Unsubscribe from ALL Newsletters

Now you could do this the old fashioned way but it would take you forever and we don't have time for that.  Which is why I recommend using Edison Mail's bulk unsubscribe feature to quickly view and get rid of all unwanted email newsletters in a few minutes.

Scheduled Email Hours

The idea is simple; stop emails and email notifications from distracting you from what you're doing.  The way to achieve this is by setting regular times when you deal with emails (say 10am and 3pm) and not opening your emails or allowing any email notifications at other times.  You can do this manually.  Some email apps (like the rather expensive Superhuman) offer this feature built in.

This will save you time by reducing context switching and improving focus throughout your day.

Email Templates

Many popular free email apps (eg Gmail) offer email templates.  (See this article to learn how to use templates in Gmail).  Email templates for frequently used emails or even parts of emails will not only save you time again and again, they will also allow you to continually refine and improve your emails.   Setting up all your email templates is time consuming.  So, do it the smart way.  Instead of crafting that next common email from scratch, craft the email template instead and then insert the template.

A focused inbox

Again, many free email apps like Gmail offer this feature, automatically sorting your emails based on type or priority.

Some Apps (like Edison Mail) take this to the next level with powerful filtering and sorting, often powered by AI.

This is a useful tool that helps you to know which emails to focus on first and also allows you to deal with similar emails in batches, which is more efficient.

STEP 6

Keyboard shortcuts

If your email app has keyboard shortcuts, start learning and using them now.  You only need to spend a few minutes to write down and start using the most common shortcuts (delete, archive, snooze, reply etc) and they will start saving you time immediately.  Keyboard shortcuts save you time because you can keep your fingers on the keyboard the whole time and now switch from keyboard to mouse or have to look for what to click.
